According to the statistics and forecasts by QYR (Hengzhou Bohzhi), the global sales volume of water-blocking belts for cables and optical fibers reached 256 million US dollars in 2024, and is expected to reach 348 million US dollars in 2031, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.5% (from 2025 to 2031). Looking at the regional level, the Chinese market has changed rapidly in the past few years. It is projected to reach 80 million US dollars in 2031, accounting for 30% of the global market share by then.

Both the cable water-blocking tape and the optical cable water-blocking tape are designed to prevent water from entering the interior of the cables or optical cables, thereby protecting their normal operation. The water-blocking tapes are generally structured with two layers of non-woven fabric filled with water-absorbing resin in the middle, or with one layer of non-woven fabric adhered to both sides with water-absorbing resin. Besides, there are also coated water-blocking tapes, where the non-woven fabric on one or both sides is replaced by materials such as polyester film or aluminum tape.
